Walt Disney – Life Changing Quote?

Walt Disney Quote

I first heard this story when I had my first job. I was a lot man at a car dealership I think I might have just turned 17.   A car salesman with slicked back hair came up to me and asked me what I am going to do with the rest of my life.

Party and get girls, probably what most 17 year old boys would say.

Well he shook his head and said read this..

A Walt Disney Story

An eight-year-old boy approached an old man in front of a wishing well, looked up into his eyes, and asked:

“I understand you’re a very wise man. I’d like to know the secret of life.”

The old man looked down at the youngster and replied:

“I’ve thought a lot in my lifetime, and the secret can be summed up in four words

The first is think. Think about the values you wish to live your life by.

The second is believe. Believe in yourself based on the thinking you’ve done about the values you’re going to live your life by.

The third is dream. Dream about the things that can be, based on your belief in yourself and the values you’re going to live by.

The last is dare. Dare to make your dreams become reality, based on your belief in yourself and your values. ”

And with that, Walter E. Disney said to the little boy,

Think, Believe, Dream, and Dare.

That Walt Disney Quote

Looking back, I can honestly say because of taking the advice of that story I am doing exactly what it is I want to with my life.

Is Generation X Preparing For Retirement?

My front page

I would say sorta kinda, not really.  While we invest money away we are spending it just as fast as we are making it. What meager funds we have put a side isn’t nearly enough.

Most of my grandparents passed away over  9 years ago.  They lived to their late 80’s they retired back in the 70’s and managed to make it on their retirement till the died.

I can’t even imagine having that much money saved up when I hit retirement age.  I saw how much they where paying every month to live in their “community” that’s crazy talk I tell ya.

Being born in 1975 3 of my grand parents where retired. My parents still work.  So ya I think we have big problems ahead in the future.

Generation X‘ers Looking At Big Financial Problems As They Reach

Will there be any money left for Generation X‘ers when they seek to retire? Gen X‘ers are those born between 1961 and 1981.

While there are ton of shows I liked watching in the 90’s I missed this one. I am kinda glad I did, do you remember it?

Generation X -Vs- Generation Y

Very interesting post this one was. I don’t think the writer actually took the time to interview a lot of Gen Xers before writing it. I can’t really say I even agree with it at all. But the post annoyed me so I thought I would blog about it.

Gen x and Gen Y not meeting halfway

How many of you have noticed more and more younger folks opting for entrepreneurship over the last 5 years as compared to ever before? And this number is steadily increasing each year. No longer are cozy corporate jobs the big thing. Publish Date: 09/06/2010 21:00

Did You Play These Types Of Games – MMOG?

MMOG The Birth Of An Addiction

My first introduction to this genre was a game called Ultima Online. That game came out in 1997.  That was over 13 flipping years ago.

If you ask me it was these types of games that really got folks realizing how powerful connecting a lot of people together on a website could be.

The graphics weren’t that great and the lag was terrible. But it was one of the funnest online games I have ever played.

Ya I admit it I am a dork.  This game opened the door to one of the most popular gaming experiences today.  These games where are so addictive I had to stop playing them all together.

Not because I wasn’t having fun. Rather because they where so consuming that I found myself not getting other stuff done.

I caught the MMOG BUG!

I was so addicted to these types of games that my debautury didn’t end there. Who else remembers these classics.

Everquest was a fun game, but it didn’t do it for me.  I liked ultima online because it sorta reminded of dungeon dragons role playing game that I played as a kid.  But what really got me excited was a game called….

Star Wars Galaxies

I actually liked starwars galaxies a lot when it first game out. The problem was though they kept changing the rules to try and make everyone happy.

What eventually happened is they turned a good game into a crappy game.

This game had great ambition but in my opinion the catered to the wrong age group.

The King Of All MMOG

The World Of Warcraft

Even if you never have heard of the other games before I am sure you have heard of the World Of Warcraft. I think blizzard sold their souls to make their games.

Every last one of their games have been absolute winners. Blizzard is on the cutting edge of this genre.

World Of Warcraft was a huge hit. I actually played for 15 hours straight when it first came out. I think I drank a little to much that day too.

I played that game with 22 of my bestest friends online , the oldest being 52 yrs old.

The game mixed real time action with role playing style missions.

This is one of the games I would have liked to continue to play. But once I had kids my mmog days where over.

I switched to playing games on the Xbox 360 lols.

But that is for another post….

While I don’t play these types of games anymore.  My 7 yr old daughter plays a game called Jumpstart.

Its a pretty cool mmog. The game play is age appropriate. It even helps her with her math and reading skills.

Ya I am guilty of turning my little girl into a gamer lols… Part of the reason why I started to get involved with marketing online was because I found myself spending a lot of time playing these games online and wanted to make better use of my time.

Anyhow that wraps this post up. Do you play mmog games? If so which ones?  How many hours do you spend playing them? Do you feel that you have made real world friends through gaming online? Leave A comment I would love to know.

Generation X My Point Of View

Larry Rivera – Born Generation X

I was born in 1975  I consider myself a young Gen Xer. After watching a video I recently discovered at:

LindaGraceOnline.com

What I think Baby Boomers don’t understand about us is that we are technology.  Where gadget people. Heck just look at the cartoons we use to watch as little kids.

Inspector Gadget came out in 1983 I was only 8 years old when it came out.

The Little Rascals came out originally called “Our Gang” as a silent short and  went to sound in 1929 by the time we where kids a lot has happened.

What Shaped Generation X

We were raised on media.  I didn’t realize this but since I have the pleasure to be a work at home father I watch the t.v shows that my daughters watch.

It horrifies me to think that I was watching movies like this at their age……. Now before watching this video consider this. Most of us Generation x boys for sure watched movies like this at one time or another starting around age 8 or 9.

Or maybe just me lols…….

What I think is scary is the fact that kids today can pretty much have access to as much media as they want for free and like seriously you can’t stop them. Sure you can put up blocks and such on your computer. But in some cases the kids know more about the computers than their parents… I see that all the time.

Not all xer’s are computer savvy many of them would rather go outside than stay inside staring at a computer all day. My daughter is pretty computer savvy for a 7 year old. I am going to have to keep my eyes on her.

Every generation had their moments. We also grew up in good economic times. The first president I really remember was Ronald Reagan.

I don’t think anyone messed with us in those days, I think because everyone thought that he would just nuke everyone else.

Who would have thought that an actor would make such a  powerful president.  During WW1 they had Sgt York.

During WW2 they had Patton. According to him all Americans love to fight.

We grew up during relative peace time, Our idea of war looked something like this lols…

Thank you for the time reading this post, I will be doing a lot more writing about our Generation X.  What we grew up with our influences and why we do the things we do.

Where you born during these years 1961 to 1981 ? What do you remember life like growing up?

I just wanted to rant a little bit. We are told all the rules to blogging. How it should be done. The proper way to do this or that. Seriously it is enough to drive this jersey boy crazy!

My blog experience is growing, I write in several different blogs and on each blog I take a different approach.

I have one blog that does indeed get a lot of traffic, however it isn’t very fun to come up with new content and make sure it is seo compliant all the time.

Place like Google and Yahoo are basically the kings of the web. They seem to dictate what they consider important.

Surprisingly enough  I decided to just write what the hell I want to write on my LarryRivera.com blog.  I mean if I spend all my time writing for keywords or locking myself into a particular niche I feel that I am really stunting my creativity and freedom of expression.

So I decided I would take the back door approach to doing what I want. I figure I would simply get my other blogs ranked high. Then point all of them right here to me.

Rank
Image via Wikipedia

So while I may never have anything of relevance to say on this blog I will still get this blog ranked and will still get traffic to it. All the hard work that goes into blogging, you should be able to just talk about whatever you want and get what is on your mind out.

So while I will continue to market online, I will use this blog purely for my own entertainment purposes, and to hell with anyone that has a problem with that including search engines…..

Another Subject all together sorta..

I am using the Thesis theme for this blog, while I haven’t did much modification to it at all it has some pretty cool features right out of the box. One of them is the multimedia options. From this point forward I will be putting videos on each post that probably have nothing to do with anything other than they entertain me in some way.

I don’t care if it makes me look like a nerd or not. It is what I enjoy.

Goodness this is so unprofessional its not funny. Then again I didn’t get involved with online marketing or blogging because I wanted to be a tight ass professional…….

One last thing,

I would like to take a moment to remember those that lost their life on this day.

There I feel much better now!!!

Do you just write for search engines? What has been your experience with connecting with your readers?
