Putting Forward Energy Into Your Wrist – Wing Chun Training

Larry Rivera

The first Time I heard my sifu say that it’s all in the wrist, I didn’t understand what he meant. It took me several years to fully grasp the idea of what having wrist control meant.

Initially I though he was just talking about turning and twisting from my wrist. While it’s true that you should control energy from that point. It wasn’t entirely what he was talking about…

Before you can control energy at the wrist you have to first project your energy to the wrist. That can be tricky to do especially if you don’t understand what it means to have forward energy projection.

It’s a fancy way of saying “keep your energy in your wrist” or another way you could say it is to have pressure in your wrist.

It sounds more complicated than it actually is to accomplish it. Here’s a video from our Enter Shaolin  site I shot with my sifu Continue reading Putting Forward Energy Into Your Wrist – Wing Chun Training

Frigging Wrist Locks, They Look Easy To Do Right?

bent-wrist

The concept is easy to understand. You apply some pressure and you add in a dash of direction and presto you can pull off wrist locks someone.

Of course nothing is ever as easy as they say it is. This holds true with wrist locks. They look easy enough to do, but try pulling one off on a resisting partner and you will quickly see just how difficult it is to do one.

Well here we are about to approach a new year 2015. Well the world didn’t end during the Y2K bug. Nor did the planet flip in 2012.

So I suppose all is well in the neighborhood. I think a lot of shit is pretty screwed up in this world. We have ISIS beheading people.

Is Wing Chun Broken ?

Sifu Larry RiveraNow I am going to start this post off very informal. I am actually doing an experiment. You see I need a ton more traffic sent to my Kung Fu Lessons Online site.

I just realized that I am not using all my resources to get more traffic. With that being said, In this post I am going to talk about Wing Chun. It’s one of the martial art styles I have been practicing for the past 20 years.

If I was to be honest with myself, I first looked at Wing Chun because I read Bruce Lee’s Tao Of Jeet Kune Do.  Once I realized that his main martial art style was Wing Chun I needed to learn more about it.  For years now I haven’t been sure what I should write about in this blog.

Well, like a ton of bricks it hit me, I am going to tell the same stories the difference being I am going to talk from a different perspective on each blog.

Basically I am re purposing my content for those of you that know me through my internet marketing years.

With That Said… Continue reading Is Wing Chun Broken ?

So Let’s Start Early Shall We

Of course with all the hustle and bustle of the holidays. I put on a little extra weight. That’s okay though because I knew I would going into November.

That’s why I started Weight Watchers in September I wanted to get ahead start for the new year.

Today I start exercising again for the first time this month. I am really looking forward to getting a run in. My target weight is 175 lbs by June.

While that is my ideal weight goal I’ll be happy if I fall short a few pounds.. But I just wanted to publicly announce that I am hoping back on the horse again.

To keep myself accountable….
